Jovic joins Real Madrid Eintracht Frankfurt confirm

Real Madrid sign Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt for initial €65m

Spanish giants Real Madrid have completed the signing of Serbian striker Luka Jovic from German club Eintracht Frankfurt on a 6-year deal.

Serbia global Jovic, 21, scored 29 goals in all competitions for club and country last season, including 10 goals in 14 games in Europe as Eintracht reached the semifinals of the Europa League, losing to eventual winners Chelsea.

And his performances have earned him a move to Real Madrid on a six-year deal.

Jovic, considered one of the hottest young prospects in European football, scored 27 goals in all competitions in 2018/19, helping Frankfurt to the Europa League semi-finals and a seventh-place finish in the Bundesliga.

£10.5m of the fee will go to his former club Benfica owing to a sell-on clause in his contract at Frankfurt before sealing mega move to the Bernabeu.

But his time in Frankfurt is now up after the both clubs confirmed the signing on Tuesday, for an undisclosed fee.

In the Bundesliga, Jovic was on target with 17 goals, joint-third along with Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen and Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund. "His explosiveness and capacity to score goals propelled us into Europe and we have benefited from more than just his goals in the past two years".

Barcelona were said to be interested in signing Jovic and reportedly scouted the Serbia striker as they hunt for a long-term successor to Luis Suarez.

"But for us it was clear that there is a financial pain threshold".

And we are proud that we were able to support him along the way, " Frankfurt's sporting director Fredi Bobic said. He has the best conditions for a great career.

Additionally, with Zinedine Zidane showing a tendency to make use of a 4-4-2 formation over his two stints at Real Madrid, he could perhaps even create a formidable strike force featuring Jovic and Benzema.
