In fact, nearly all of Google's services suite is potentially affected according to the the current statuses listed on the G Suite Status Dashboard. A Google Cloud outage, which powers logins for many non-Google properties, is responsible.

Most of the outages appear to have affected the east coast of the United States, but parts of Europe and Australia have also been affected in some way. Meanwhile, people have been reporting on social media that multiple "smart home" apps that would usually link to the cloud have also been affected.

It appears something went rather wrong within Google's core network, as the network congestion managed to flood off all manner of services, from user-facing things like Gmail to backend cloud hosting.

Google Cloud's status website confirms the outage of Google Cloud Networking along with the Google Compute Engine. The issues started around 3:25 EST.

As of 4:36pm ET, "the issues are still ongoing", the company said on its Cloud Dashboard.

While YouTube was still working for some users, others could not use the service, which runs through Google Cloud, which was affected by the outage.

YouTube, Google Cloud and G Suite services were affected, but Google officials said they believed they has identified the cause of the congestion, and expected to return to normal service shortly.

"Users may see slow performance or intermittent errors", the company said in a statement around 2 p.m. PT.
