Phil Spencer Introduces Xbox Game Pass for PC

Xbox Game Pass is coming to Windows 10, but many questions remain

Microsoft to make its Xbox Game Pass available for PCs now too

Games from Microsoft's own studios, including recent acquisitions Obsidian and inXile, will be available on Xbox Game Pass for PC on the day they're released, just as they are on Xbox One. Microsoft says that Xbox Game Pass will launch with a "curated library of over 100 high-quality PC games" from developers and publishers like Bethesda, Deep Silver, Devolver Digital, Paradox, and Sega.

Spencer added: "We know millions of PC gamers trust Steam as a great source to buy PC games and we've heard the feedback that PC gamers would like choice".

In a post over on Xbox Wire, Microsoft notes that Game Pass will launch with titles from well-known PC game developers and publishers. "Building communities across all of those players, regardless of the store or platform they've chosen (console or PC), is also vitally important because it helps bring players together, allows games to find their largest audience and allows gaming to deliver its true potential of uniting people around the power of play". The biggest announcement is the launch of the Xbox Game Pass for PC.

While the PC version won't be a direct copy of Xbox Game Pass on console, it'll be the same basic service that has players paying a monthly subscription to download and play a revolving library of games. You can buy some games, e.g.

The company will also be offering 20 previously-unavailable games on Steam, including all three Age of Empires games, and it'll also be offering the upcoming game Gears of War 5 there.

Not only will Microsoft be releasing more games on Steam in Win32 form, but it's opening up the Microsoft Store to support Win32 as well.

While there are, of course, plenty of PC storefronts out there, I'm willing to bet that Spencer isn't referring to Uplay or Origin.

And the last detail that Microsoft talks about is the fact that they will be enabling full support for native Win32 games via with Microsoft Store.
