"ARM is complying with all the laws and regulations set forth by the US government", a spokesman for the company said Wednesday.
"We value our close relationships with our partners, but recognize the pressure some of them are under, as a result of politically motivated decisions", said the spokesperson. The move was made to comply with the USA trade clampdown on Huawei.
ARM's suspension of business with Huawei will be another major blow, and analysts told BBC, they believe it will impact the Chinese company's ability to develop its own chips. Neither Arm nor Huawei has provided comment on these latest developments. Just like any other Chinese technology company, Huawei is also mainly dependent on United States companies.

Certain European semiconductor makers said this week they would keep supplying to Huawei, but USA chipmakers including Intel Corp., Qualcomm Inc., Xilinx Inc. and Broadcom Inc. have told their employees they will not supply Huawei till further notice, according to people familiar with their actions.
The chip maker has apparently told employees to pause "all active contracts, support entitlements, and any pending engagements", with Huawei and its subsidiaries in compliance with the recent USA trade sanctions. The move has dire consequences for Huawei's smartphone ambitions, as ARM's technology forms the foundation of HiSilicon's Kirin chipsets. Huawei is also said to be working with Google on a solution. The reason it gave for this is that its chip designs which Huawei uses for its Kirin processors contain "US-origin technology"! Huawei is free to continue using the existing chips with the licenses for now.

The chip designer is another big tech company that has stopped work with Huawei after the US Department of Commerce added Huawei to its "Entity List". Although Huawei is trying to mitigate the first issue by working on an in-house operating system, hardware related bans are much more complex to overcome.
The sky has been falling recently for Huawei, the Chinese tech firm that has been accused of having ties to the Chinese government. Huawei has denied any wrongdoing.
