U.S. Attorney General William Barr is working with top intelligence officials and a senior federal prosecutor on at least the third inquiry to date into the origins of the Mueller probe of President Donald Trump and Russian election meddling, a person familiar with the matter said on Tuesday. He is reportedly working closely with CIA Director Gina Haspel, National Intelligence Director Daniel Coats, and FBI Director Christopher Wray to uncover the origins of the Mueller probe.
The president commented on the news as he left the White House for a trip to Louisiana.
