The holy month of Ramadan started on Sunday (May 5, 2019) as Muslims all over the world are beginning their month-long fasting and religious devotion.

Ramadan is the ninth and most sacred month in the Islamic calendar.

Fasting is meant to bring worshippers closer to God through steady remembrance, reflection and sacrifice.
