The former MA governor and perennial political candidate announced Monday he's going to challenge Trump for the GOP nomination in 2020, becoming the first and likely the only Republican to do so.

"The president is not well liked in California", Weld said.

"It is time for patriotic men and women across our great nation to stand and plant a flag", Weld said in a statement announcing his candidacy Monday. It is time to return to the principles of Lincoln - equality, dignity, and opportunity for all.
