A day after a historic election, Chicago Mayor-elect Lori Lightfoot laid out what she sees as some of the city's most pernicious problems: entrenched segregation, gun violence and economic inequality.
The landslide win, which saw Lightfoot sweep all 50 voting districts, makes Chicago the biggest USA city to ever elect a black woman as Mayor. The 56-year-old attorney and former federal prosecutor has been interim first deputy of the city's procurement department, chief of staff and general counsel for the emergency management office and chief administrator of the office of professional standards.
