The assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh, Arunachal, Odisha and Sikkim will be held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha elections but not in Jammu and Kashmir due to security reasons, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said Sunday.
Voting for electing the 17th Lok Sabha will be held on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19 in which almost 90 crore voters, including 1.8 crore first-time electorate aged between 18 and 19 years, are expected to take part, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said at a packed press conference here.
With the announcement of poll dates, the State government has been notified to strictly implement the model code of conduct with immediate effect.
In the first phase, 91 Parliamentary constituencies in 20 states will go to polls whereas in the 2nd phase, 97 Parliamentary constituencies in 13 states will go to polls.

Assam and Chhattisgarh will poll in three phases; Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha in four phases; J&K in five phases and UP, Bihar and West Bengal in all seven phases. Karnataka, Manipur, Rajasthan & Tripura will have elections in two phases.
