The charges filed Friday list four victims, including at least three between the ages of 13 and 17.
After the latest documentary, Chicago's top prosecutor, Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx, said she was "sickened" by the allegations and asked potential victims to come forward.
The singer was recently the focus point of documentary Surviving R Kelly, which contained allegations of abuse against the star over a period of 25 years.

The news comes just one day after two more women came forward with allegations that Kelly singled them out at a party in 1996.
It's the second time Cook County prosecutors have charged Kelly with a sex crime: after a dramatic trial that also involved a sex tape, the musician was acquitted of 21 counts of child pornography in 2008.
