Fire officer Vipin Kenta said the two people had jumped off the hotel on Gurudwara Road in panic when the fire broke out early on Tuesday.
They said wooden panelling in the corridors of the hotel contributed to the quick spread of the fire. Moreover, the rescue operation is still underway, ANI reported. A woman and child were seen attempting to jump while another man was spotted hanging from a terrace before falling. Those staying in the hotel included a group of tourists from Myanmar, broadcaster NDTV said, adding that authorities were trying to ascertain their whereabouts.
The injured were rushed to three hospitals including the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML). Over 30 people were rescued by firefighters, who managed to contain the blaze after several hours.
The fire has been extinguished, but authorities are letting the building cool in order to investigate what sparked it. Fire services said, two persons have been seriously injured in the incident.
