Wreckage of plane carrying missing Emiliano Sala found

Wreckage from plane carrying Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson found in English channel

The Piper Malibu N264DB carrying Sala, 28, and pilot David Ibbotson, 59, was discovered off the coast of Alderney in the English Channel on Sunday evening - nearly two weeks after it disappeared.

Sala, 28, a striker who played for Nantes in the French top flight, was preparing to start a new career in the Premier League at Cardiff.

David Mearns, skipper of the search boat hired by Sala's family, confirmed that he found the debris in the English Channel north of Guernsey on Sunday morning.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch located the stricken Piper Malibu N264DB four miles of the Guernsey Coast yesterday morning, and having deployed a remotely operated vehicle to examine the seabed, they have been able to confirm details.

An AAIB spokesman said: "Tragically, in video footage from the ROV, one occupant is visible amidst the wreckage".

Programme notes, penned by owner Vincent Tan and the rest of the Bluebirds´ board, said events had shaken "Cardiff City to its very core" and that they were now playing for Sala and pilot Ibbotson.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) confirmed the sighting of one body this morning - nearly two weeks after the plane went missing.

The initial hunt for the aircraft was called off later that week, but it picked up again when thousands of people donated to a GoFundMe page set up to raise over €370,000 to fund an underwater search.

"I can't believe it. A bad dream. I am desperate", he told reporters.

David Mearns, the marine scientist directing the search, made this disclosure on Sunday, NAN reports.

Eagles to franchise, trade Nick Foles
But, Rapoport said, Philadelphia at that point could put the franchise tag on Foles and search for a trade partner. Other teams have reportedly inquired about Foles's "price", which is expected to possibly be a third-round pick.

Last week, Cardiff City and Nantes both held emotional tributes to Sala before their matches.

"I talk to them every day".

The official search operation was ended on January 24 after Guernsey's harbour master, Captain David Barker, said "the chances of survival at this stage are extremely remote".

"But tonight they have heard devastating news and in respect of the families I won't comment any further about what has happened", Mearns was quoted as saying to Sky News.

A private search organized by Sala's family and paid for by crowdfunding was launched two days later.
