Mumbai: A little-known facet of Kader Khan, the veteran Bollywood actor-writer-comedian who passed in away Toronto early on Tuesday morning, was that he was a Quranic scholar who designed a special academic syllabus in Islamic studies, besides simplified Arabic and Urdu language courses, a family friend said. Kader Khan, 81, is survived by his wife Hajra, son Sarfaraz, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. The doctors wasted no time in treating him but unfortunately he succumbed to his illness.
According to Ahmed Khan, a close relative, he passed away around 4 a.m. (IST).

The news of Kader Khan's death comes days after his son dismissed media reports of his demise. The actor passed away at the age of 81 on 31 December.
Sarfaraz also confirmed that Khan had been in the hospital for 16 to 17 weeks prior and had slipped into a coma Monday afternoon.

Last week, Kader Khan had to be hospitalised in a hospital in Canada after he developed breathing problem. Kader's son revealed that since their entire family is in Canada and they live there, so they would prefer having his last rites there. He was an integral part of David Dhawan and Govinda collaborations in the 1990s, delivering blockbusters like Coolie No. 1, Saajan Chale Sasural, Hero No. 1, Dulhe Raja and Haseena Maan Jaayegi. Aged 34 and performing at annual day play in the college, actor Dilip Kumar is said to have noticed him and invited him to do a film with him in 1971. After that film in 1973, Khan went on to work in over 300 films, spanning several decades.
Prior to making his on screen debut, Khan was a renowned script writer, whose talents helped to produce a string of Bollywood smash hits, including "Dharam Veer", "Coolie", "Amar Akbar Anthony", "Sharaabi", "Lawaaris" and "Muqaddar Ka Sikandar". I knew him from the time he wrote Manmohan Desai's "Naseeb" and Prakash Mehra's "Jwalamukhi", both of which I starred in. Khan also wrote and assisted dialogue writing for movies like "Himmatwala", "Sarfarosh", "Jeo Aur Jeene Do", "Tohfa" and "Qaidi".
