Democrats have a plan to end the partial shutdown on Thursday - the first day that they take control of the House of Representatives.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday invited congressional leaders to a bipartisan briefing on border security at the White House as a partial USA government shutdown over Trump's $5 billion (3.92 billion pounds) demand for a wall along the border with Mexico is in its second week. One of those packages, which actually includes six spending bills, will fund all the federal departments affected by the shutdown, with the exception of the DHS, through September. "They could come over right now", the president said of possible talks with Ms Pelosi and Mr Schumer. He's not going to get $5 billion for a wall. But a previous attempt to reach a compromise that addressed the status of "Dreamers" - young immigrants brought to the US illegally as children - broke down past year as a result of escalating White House demands. No, we are not giving up.

The president signaled he'd reject their proposal, saying in a tweet Monday: "The Democrats will probably submit a Bill, being cute as always, which gives everything away but gives NOTHING to Border Security, namely the Wall".

Democrats maintain that they have already presented the White House with three options to end the shutdown, none of which funds the wall, and insist that it's Trump's move.

The 2018-2019 government shutdown is now the 5th longest in U.S. history. "Requiring them to work without pay is nothing short of inhumane".

He dismissed opposition allegations that campaigns had faced restrictions, including blocked flights and supporters assaulted. The uproar over the voting delay has "badly disturbed" Ebola response work in Beni and Butembo, Congo's health ministry said.

Conway added that Trump "likes the $5.6 billion that was in the House package", referring to the stopgap government funding measure that the House passed this month that included about $5.6 billion for a border wall and border security. Democrats have more tangible reasons for thinking that: polls which show (a) the public blames the shutdown on Trump more than on congressional Democrats, and (b) Trump's motive for refusing a deal, his border wall, continues to be unpopular. McConnell, who will remain in charge of the Senate in 2019 as the House flips to Democratic control, does not want to put his lawmakers in that position again. "Sovereignty is the defining issue of President Trump and his administration", Malkin said on "Fox & Friends" Tuesday.

On the campaign trail, Trump promised that Mexico would pay for the wall, but Mexico has refused.

Democrats on Monday unveiled legislation created to re-open the federal government, without providing money for Donald Trump's border wall.

"The first bill would reopen all government agencies except for the Department of Homeland Security".

"It's incredible how Democrats can all use their ridiculous sound bite and say that a wall doesn't work".

Despite Republicans holding a bigger majority in the Senate in the next Congress, some Democratic votes will still be needed to pass funding legislation there, and Democratic senators, even more moderate ones, have been resolute against money for a wall.

On Tuesday morning, after tweeting a New Year's message to "EVERYONE INCLUDING THE HATERS AND THE FAKE NEWS MEDIA", Trump tweeted, "The Democrats, much as I suspected, have allocated no money for a new Wall".

That has resulted in swaths of the federal government being shut down over the Christmas and New Year's holidays - and for the foreseeable future until a deal is reached.

"An all concrete Wall was NEVER ABANDONED", tweeted Trump, whose demand for congressional funding to construct one has caused a budgetary standoff.

According to the Associated Press, an anonymous Democratic aide claimed that the compromise offer amounted to $2.5 billion for border security.

Any game you can play like that but obviously every game is different and we need to wait and see how the game is going to be. Liverpool have never lost against a Manchester club when Taylor has refereed the match, though they haven't won either.
