Huawei unveils its 48-megapixel Nova 4, complete with hole-punch display

Huawei Nova 4 Smartphone With Triple Camera & Kirin 970 SoC Launched in China at RMB 3099

All told, it looks like a strong first foray into hole punch display territory for Huawei - give us your thoughts on the Nova 4 in the comments. Specs-wise, it's the same screen as the one in the Galaxy A8s - a 6.4-inch, 2,310x1,080 LCD screen with a modest chin and a "hole punch" cutout in its upper left corner to accommodate the selfie camera. The device features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and it also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Launched after weeks of teasers and hype-building, the Huawei Nova 4 features a 25MP selfie camera embedded into the display, similar to that seen on the Honor View 20 and Samsung's Galaxy A8 with "Infinity-O" display.

Unai Emery: these are must-win games for Arsenal
Unai Emery is not expecting Arsenal to sign any new players in January, despite the injury crisis now afflicting his squad.

The rear camera setup deserves extra attention. According to the event, the standard version sports a 20MP + 16MP + 2MP and then for the other model, it carries a 48MP + 16MP + 2MP.

The device's front-facing snapper is 25-megapixels in quality.

Israeli forces partially demolish home of Palestinian family
Israel demolished parts of a home of a Palestinian on Monday accused of killing two Israelis two months ago, agencies reported. Netanyahu's comments came after two soldiers were shot dead at a central West Bank bus station near a settlement on Thursday.

According to The Verge, the Nova 4 will be using a Kirin 970 chipset, so it's got some similarities to the P20 Pro. Huawei has launched the Nova 4 in just one variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD card. In China, the more mid-range Nova 4 will retail for 3,100 CNY ($450 USD) and the higher-end variant will go for 3,400 CNY ($490 USD). The lower cost variant of the Nova 4 ditches 48 MP camera with a 20 MP camera.

In China, the Huawei Nova 4 with the 48MP camera is going for 3,399CNY (about RM2,058) while the 20MP variant is priced at 3,099CNY (about RM1,876). It also has a decent 3,750mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging. The company is aggressively pushing the boundaries of smartphone photography as it aims to launch a smartphone in 2019 bearing four cameras paired with 10x optical zoom, so it is unfortunate that the OEM ignored lossless zoom when launching the Nova 4.
