Reports have come out that the Boston Red Sox are close to re-signing Eovaldi to a four-year deal that would be worth about $17 million per year.

Following comes from Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic and Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

"We're very happy to have Nathan back with us", Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said in a statement as the deal was announced Thursday. This includes current free agent Nathan Eovaldi.

Heyman reported on Thursday that the Yankees' next target is pitcher J.A. Happ, who spent several months with the team past year after being acquired in a trade with the Blue Jays. He made 10 starts for the Rays before being acquired by the Red Sox in a trade last season, and he posted a 3.81 ERA in 111 total innings in 2018. He made four starts against the Yankees, going 2-0 with a 0.39 ERA, and beat the NY in Game 3 of the AL Division Series, when he gave up one run in seven innings. His lone loss may have been his best outing, as he pitched six innings of relief in Boston's 18-inning loss in Game 3 of the World Series in Los Angeles.

Fancred's Jon Heyman reported Wednesday evening that negotiations between the Red Sox and Eovaldi were "getting serious".

Boston manager Alex Cora said earlier this week Eovaldi was a "game-changer".
