In Southern California there are now two fires in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties threatening structures and forcing evacuations. One CBS reporter said she has seen rabbits cowering from the smoke, and running around in confusion. A blaze is also approaching LA Zoo.

The fire had crossed U.S. 101 a few miles east of Thousand Oaks - the site of Wednesday night's bar shooting massacre - and was headed south to the Pacific coast, in the direction of Malibu Creek State Park, the city of Malibu and Pepperdine University, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

The fire near the Northern California town of Paradise has grown to almost 110 square miles (285 square kilometers).

Firefighters are challenged by residents moving about evacuation areas and high traffic as they follow the fire front.

Fire officials have issued evacuation notices for parts of Chico, a town of 93,000 people north of Sacramento.

Chandler Says LeBron 'Greatest Nearer Since Nowitzki' After Lakers Beat Timberwolves
Chandler's presence had an immediate impact for the Lakers as he pulled down eight rebounds in a little under 23 minutes. The Los Angeles Lakers are still piecing things together in this first season with LeBron James on the roster.

Fire crews are calling for more evacuations as several wildfires rage throughout Northern and Southern California.

Homeowners fleeing the wind-driven blaze jammed roadways as the fire crept closer to a community that is home to such movie and TV stars as Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Ellen DeGeneres and Angelina Jolie. She had lived there since 2015, with the pad being prominently featured on her reality TV show.

Rainn Wilson tweeted Thursday that he had also evacuated, and asked for prayers - and cash - for the people of Thousand Oaks.

Hidden Hills resident Adrienne Janic gave her home over to firefighters late Thursday to use as a command center. "We are still not out of the woods yet".

Cal Fire had not reported any firefighter fatalities related to containment efforts on the Camp Fire, nor the two burning in Ventura County, as of 10 a.m. Friday.

According to Surfline's forecast team, the strong, breezy offshore winds will continue through this evening.

One of the fires broke out Thursday north-west of Los Angeles and roared south, jumping the USA 101 freeway early Friday and sweeping into the Santa Monica Mountains.

Ventura County Fire Department Captain Scott Dettorre warned that as the fire crosses the famous highway 101, "it will make its historic and typical run all the way down Pacific Coast Highway, threatening more homes, more property, more lives", KTLA-TV reports. Fire officials anticipate the fire will reach the Pacific Ocean.

Driven by 50 to 60 miles per hour wind gusts the brush fire is zero percent contained and also jumped Highway 101 near Chesebro Road in Agoura Hills on Friday morning. Another fire northwest of Los Angeles has been swept southward toward the ocean by strong Santa Ana winds.
