United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres said Yemen is teetering "on a precipice", appealing to the global community to put an end to the Saudi war on the impoverished nation, more than three-and-a-half years after the regime and a number of its allies invaded the peninsular country.

In his comments to the media, Guterres also called for an increase in foreign aid and for "food, fuel and other essentials" to be allowed to enter Yemen "without restrictions" in order to alleviate the suffering endured by the 22 million Yemenis deemed by the United Nations to be in need of humanitarian assistance.
