Turkish authorities have put the fiancee of slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi under 24-hour police protection, the state-run Anadolu news agency said on Sunday (Oct 21).
Khashoggi, a dissident Saudi journalist, who wrote for The Washington Post and lived in USA as legal permanent resident was last seen entering the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.
Khashoggi was last seen on October 2 when he entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.
The Saudi stock market is down about 4 per cent since Khashoggi disappeared on Oct 2. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), who heads the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in an interview on CNN that the Saudi Arabian explanation for Khashoggi's death was "just not credible".
In a sign of growing pressure on Saudi Arabia, Turkey said it will announce details of its investigation into the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi on Tuesday and US congressional leaders said the Gulf kingdom - in particular its crown prince - should face severe consequences for the death of the writer in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
"The crown prince has denied this, the crown prince was not aware of this - even the senior leadership of our intelligence service was not aware of this", he said.
"To say that I am skeptical of the new Saudi narrative about Mr. Khashoggi is an understatement", Graham tweeted Friday.
"I don't believe you can have someone who would authorize this sort of an act be in a position of power with a nation that's very important to us", Tillis said.

Turkish investigators are still searching for Khashoggi's body, which they believe was cut into pieces after he was killed. "Offering no proof, and contrary to all available evidence, they now expect the world to believe that Jamal died in a fight following a discussion".
Germany is adding to the pressure on Saudi Arabia over the death of Khashoggi, a journalist.
A number of Saudi nationals have since been arrested while deputy intelligence chief Ahmad al-Assiri and Saud al-Qahtani, a senior aide to the Crown Prince, have been dismissed, state TV reported.
He said he was uncertain of the details of the Khashoggi case. We need to do better than that.
"There are plenty of other things we can do", Trump said on October 19. Saudi Arabia ranked sixth past year with approved sales of 254 million euros ($292 million), mostly reflecting deliveries of patrol boats, according to a government report published in June.
Paul said that he doesn't believe that "arms should ever be seen as a jobs program", adding that the Saudis are using USA arms in the war in Yemen where civilians are being killed.
However, a number of Trump's fellow Republicans joined their Democratic colleagues in Congress in expressing impatience with the shifting Saudi responses. Turkish officials suspect a team of Saudi agents was sent to assassinate him. Nobody has told me he's not responsible. "Do you intend to kidnap me?" "We'll have an answer by probably Tuesday or so", he said. "They could have brought him down with no trouble at all", adding he believed there was "an intent to kill".
"The Saudis have said a whole bunch of crap that's not right, accurate or true", Sasse said.

Turkish officials have told Reuters that Khashoggi's killers may have dumped his remains in Belgrad Forest adjacent to Istanbul, and at a rural location near the city of Yalova, 90 kilometres (55 miles) south of Istanbul.
Trump said: "We'd like to find out where it is and what happened". The official said investigators were trying to determine where the body ended up.
CNN said the man walked out of the consulate via its back exit with an accomplice, then took a taxi to Istanbul's famed Sultan Ahmed Mosque, where he went into a public bathroom and changed back out of the clothes and left.
CCTV video obtained by the Turkish broadcaster TRT World purportedly showing Jamal Khashoggi entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
Sceptics have asked why so many people, including military officers and a forensics expert specialising in autopsies, were part of the operation if the objective was to convince Khashoggi to return home of his own volition.
The prince has denied involvement with the disappearance of Khashoggi, a critic of the government who wrote columns for the Washington Post and lived in the United States.
"I agree with all those who say when it comes to our already limited arms exports (to Saudi Arabia) that they can not take place in the current situation", she told reporters at her party headquarters.
The official said all 15 team members had been detained and placed under investigation, along with three other local suspects.
