The most explosive allegation involves Swetnick's claim that she was the victim of what she described as a "gang" or "train" rape, in which, according to her affidavit, "boys lined up outside rooms at many of these parties waiting for their "turn" with a girl inside the room".

Swetnick has held numerous security clearances as an employee of multiple federal agencies, including the State, Justice, Treasury, and Homeland Security departments.

Meanwhile on Wednesday, Ford's lawyers said they gave the Senate sworn affidavits from four people who say she told them well before Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination that she had been sexually assaulted when she was much younger.

Attorney Michael Avenatti has revealed that a third woman, Julie Swetnick, is accusing Kavanaugh of sexual assault.

Avenatti has also called for an FBI investigation into Swetnick's allegations. She says that he and his friend Mark Judge would "target" a vulnerable girl, get her drunk, and then pull her into a side bedroom where they could have sex with her.

The Washington Post has not independently verified her allegations.

Swetnick claims she witnessed Kavanaugh partake in inappropriate behavior while they were in high school in the early 1980s. "Sexual assault is horrific". Avenatti also represents Stormy Daniels, an adult film actress who alleges she was paid to keep a sexual relationship with President Donald Trump quiet. Ford has said the pair were at a gathering of high school students when he shoved her into a room, pinned her to a bed, groped her over her clothes and put his hand over her mouth when she started to scream.

Wilkinson said Wednesday: "If this is going to be the standard for how we judge somebody going into public service, I don't know why anyone in their right mind would want to go through something like this". Julie Swetnick, who made her claims in an affadavit released yesterday, says Judge was the ringleader of a "gang rape" operation. When I say zero truth, I mean zero truth.
