Yale law students protest Kavanaugh nomination

Ford, a psychology professor at Palo Alto University in California, said in an interview published in the Washington Post last week Kavanaugh attacked her and tried to remove her clothing while he was drunk at a party when he was 17 years old and she was 15. Christine Blasey Ford alleges that Kavanaugh groped her, attempted to remove her clothes and put his hand over her mouth at a house party in the early 1980s when the two were high school students.

In a statement sent to NBC News, Chua addressed the reports that she had inappropriately coached Kavanaugh's clerkship interviewees. Later, she said, she was on the floor, foggy and slurring her words, as that male student and another stood nearby.

"What we are witnessing is the total collapse of the traditional confirmation process for a Supreme Court nominee", Graham said on Twitter. She later doubled down on the remark, saying "we are not in a court of law".

"I think it has soured me on her a little that I don't actually see her opposing his behavior or his appointees in any meaningful ways. The classmate said that he is "one-hundred-per-cent sure" that he was told at the time that Kavanaugh was the student who exposed himself to Ramirez".

"They got the same advice: "He likes girls who are pretty", the student said.

The student told the Huffington Post that she "had mixed feelings" after hearing that advice.

Their support for an investigation came as Yale Law professor Akhil Amar - who taught Kavanaugh and testified on his behalf before the committee this month - also called for a probe into what he described as "serious accusations" from the women.

Collins' office did not immediately respond to a request from the Press Herald for comment on the emergence of a second accusation against Kavanaugh.

"I was further advised that the allegations were not of the kind that would jeopardize my position as a long-tenured member of the faculty", his statement read. Blumenthal is a Yale Law School alumnus and a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
