Constand, 45, said her training as a professional basketball player had led her to think she could handle anything, but "life as I knew it" ended on the night she said Cosby knocked her out with pills and penetrated her with his fingers as she lay almost paralyzed on a couch. The judge said it's "time for justice" as he sentenced Cosby to state prison and fined him $25,000.

The case involving Constand, a former Temple University employee turned massage therapist, was the only one out of dozens of allegations against him that was recent enough to be prosecuted. His age and physical infirmities did not sway the judge or the prosecution.

In a sentencing memorandum, prosecutors said that "extraordinary display of disrespect" was evidence of "who this convicted criminal defendant actually is".

"The behaviors are beyond their controls, so they are urged to act on it".
