Trump says U.S. considering permanent military presence in Poland

President Donald Trump says he's "very seriously" considering a greater USA troop presence in Poland as he meets with that country's president at the White House.

"The United States commits to explore options for an increased U.S. military role in Poland and we will intensify our consultations to determine the concept's feasibility", the White House said in a statement later.

During a subsequent press conference, Duda voiced support for the idea.

"I firmly believe that ... we are not only going to realize and safeguard our own energy needs, but I also hope that we'll be able to transmit gas further to our neighbors through the development of the Three Seas Initiative area through the construction of interconnectors", Duda said of USA natural gas. He said he had assured Trump that a permanent USA base in Poland would not result in a newly heightened military standoff with Russian Federation in central and Eastern Europe, because he said that was already happening.

According to Variety , the scope and budget of these new shows could be significantly larger than what we've seen before. That means big budgets, big production values, and a big bet by Disney on consumer interest in its streaming service.

"We're looking at it very seriously", the president said earlier. Some 3,000 USA troops are now stationed in Poland as part of NATO's back-to-back rotation. In May, when reports of Poland's request first emerged, Moscow warned that the Western alliance's eastward expansion would undermine stability in Europe.

As previously reported, Poland has asked North Atlantic Treaty Organisation to intervene in the conflict between Hungary and Ukraine.

When a Polish reporter asked Trump about his own view of Russian behavior in Europe, Trump did not hesitate to agree with Duda.

President Trump renewed his criticism of a planned new natural gas pipeline linking Germany with Russian Federation.

The beverage giant's interest is another indication of the growing acceptance of cannabis by established companies. Several U.S. states have legalized marijuana but it remains against federal law.

The US president also announced he was considering a visa waiver program for Polish nationals. Duda, for his part, came away confident that he had taken a major step toward lining up a permanent American military base in his country. As the Polish president sat in the Oval Office, officials from Warsaw were in Brussels as part of an unprecedented European Union hearing into accusations Poland has violated democratic norms and rule-of-law.

USA forces are already deployed to Poland on a rotational basis, part of an effort by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to step up defenses on its eastern flank after Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea.
