Should Giants take a chance on Josh Gordon?

Josh Gordon Released by Cleveland Browns

Browns to release WR Josh Gordon

On Saturday night, it was reported the Cleveland Browns will part ways with wide receiver Josh Gordon, as Cleveland likely has grown exhausted of Gordon not being a reliable player for the team.

Gordon will have no says in where he is traded but Gordon is hopeful that it's to a place that can provide the support and understanding what his needs. After parts of seven seasons and multiple part-time comebacks, the Browns will make one final Gordon-related transaction Monday.

Earlier this week, the Browns spoke out about making Gordon a more important part of their offense.

Gordon posted on Instagram Saturday, thanking the city of Cleveland and the Browns.

According to NFL Network: "As many as five teams are researching possibly trading for (Gordon)".

The news came several hours after Gordon was listed as out for Sunday's Week 2 game at New Orleans due to a hamstring injury. It simply would boil down to whether they feel Gordon would be a fit for the locker room.

Browns general manager John Dorsey said in a statement that the team has informed Gordon's representatives that he will be released Monday.

The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles need help at wide receiver and have the locker room to absorb such a personality. He has 87 catches for a league-leading 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in 2013, his second season in the NFL.

Gordon, of course, wouldn't fix that issue for the Giants and, instead, just give them another impending headache to worry about. But Gordon would be a clear talent upgrade, if nothing else.
