Tropical Storm Gordon Moves Toward Gulf

The storm was forecast to come ashore late on Tuesday near the border between Louisiana and MS, and drop as much as 8 inches (20 cm) of rain in some areas of the U.S. South still reeling from hurricanes a year ago. It could have winds up to 60 miles per hour by the time it makes landfall late tomorrow night or early Wednesday morning around Louisiana or Mississippi.

Florence was moving toward the west-northwest near 16 miles per hour, with and maximum sustained winds of 60 miles per hour with higher gusts late Sunday evening, according to the hurricane center's 5 a.m. update.
