Former adviser Omarosa Manigault Newman surreptitiously recorded a conversation that she says took place in the Situation Room.
A former adviser to Donald Trump has released what she says is a tape of a phone call from the United States president after her dismissal previous year.
The Washington Post had previously reported on Manigault Newman's account of the conversation with Trump the day after her firing. She was vicious, but not smart. But she told Chuck Todd on Sunday (Monday NZT) that she later was able to hear a recording of Trump during a trip to Los Angeles. "I told [Mr Kelly] to try working it out, if possible, because she only said GREAT things about me - until she got fired!"

I expect in the first part of the season, we may have to take a bit of time getting up to our full potential", Sarri said. Despite slashing a club record £60 million on signing Riyad Mahrez , City have enjoyed a quiet window.
Manigault Newman, who starred on Trump's show "The Apprentice", was sacked from her administration position in December amid allegations of misconduct, including trying to stage her wedding photos on White House grounds. "The fact that she was recording a conversation in there, really, raises alarm bells in the minds of people who have worked in that room".
The White House is blasting former staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman for secretly recording a conversation with chief of staff John Kelly in the high-security Situation Room.
Here's what he said at September 2016 rally in OH (with emphases added): "Don't leave Omarosa - she's a wonderful woman - don't leave". It was later reported that she was actually fired from her position. Newman provided what she said were copies of those agreements to "Meet the Press".
NBC News said it does not know what was heard before or after the exchange between the two.
"It's come to my attention over the last few months that there's been some pretty, in my opinion, significant integrity issues related to you", Kelly is heard saying, citing her use of government vehicles and "money issues and other things" that he compares to offences that could lead to a court martial in the military. When we had planning meetings and stuff like that I got along with her.
Newman didn't specify when exactly the tape was from, but said that it was from Trump's time hosting the show and spinoffs through early 2015.

"Wacky Omarosa" the president calls her.
Some experts have said White House operations chaos is due to the lack of experience among senior staff and some have pointed to Mr Trump's need to micromanage as he had with his company. "God [expletive]. I don't love you leaving at all".
On Sunday, Manigault Newman did not address those issues. He could not go into specifics about why she was sacked or how she was able to get a recording device in the room.
Omarosa's comments on Monday morning add to a series of shifting explanations for the circumstances surrounding her firing.
Mr Trump's pushback came after Ms Manigault Newman released another recording on Monday. "The other question is, is General Kelly running this country or is the President running this country?" But this is someone now it makes me concerned - I wonder if she recorded some of the things we talked about as well, ' Gidley said.
