TENSE IN TEHRAN: The President Slams Iran With 'MOST BITING SANCTIONS EVER IMPOSED'

The U.S. Navy has reported zero unsafe or unprofessional interactions with the Iranian military since August 2017.

European countries, hoping to persuade Tehran to continue to respect the nuclear deal, have promised to try to lessen the blow of sanctions and to urge their firms not to pull out.

But the second tranche of sanctions, which kicks in on 5 November and targets Iran's vital oil sector, could be far more damaging - even if several key customers such as China, India and Turkey have refused to significantly cut their purchases.

While Votel said the scope of the recent Iranian maritime exercise was similar to that of other exercises done in the region, its timing gave it added significance.

Iran's foreign minister Javad Zarif turned the tables on Washington's efforts to isolate the regime, saying Monday that it is in fact the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia who are isolated in their hostility towards Iran.
