Armed, barricaded suspect may be former NBA, UCLA basketball star: report

According to the LAPD, the suspect, who they have not yet confirmed as Honeycutt, seems to have fired on the responding officers and barricaded himself inside a house.

Earlier today (7/7), ABC reported of a shootout between the LAPD and a former UCLA and National Basketball Association player at his mid-20s who had been barricaded at a residence at the Sherman Oaks area, Los Angeles.

Honeycutt's mother had called the police because her son was acting erratically, ABC 7 reported. Approximately 30 residents were evacuated during the incident.

No officers were injured in the altercation, according to LAPD. This is still an ongoing barricaded situation with SWAT officers on scene.

SWAT officers found Honeycutt unresponsive when they entered the residence, the department tweeted early Saturday.
