According to the LAPD, the suspect, who they have not yet confirmed as Honeycutt, seems to have fired on the responding officers and barricaded himself inside a house.

Earlier today (7/7), ABC reported of a shootout between the LAPD and a former UCLA and National Basketball Association player at his mid-20s who had been barricaded at a residence at the Sherman Oaks area, Los Angeles.

Honeycutt's mother had called the police because her son was acting erratically, ABC 7 reported. Approximately 30 residents were evacuated during the incident.
