First Look at Wonder Woman 1984 Released, Chris Pine to Return!

The image shows Wonder Woman staring at a wall of TV screens, which display images of oil tycoon J.R. Ewing from Dallas, commercials for drinks, a woman driving a sports vehicle with the top down, TV color bars and much more imagery from the period of time. Yes, against all odds, Steve Trevor lives, though writer-director Patty Jenkins is yet to offer an explanation for his surprise return and, frankly, that's okay, as the filmmaker is likely fighting to keep spoilers at bay.

This is all doubly surprising given that the Wonder Woman sequel's set in the mid-1980s.

Plot details for the Wonder Woman sequel are now being kept under wraps.

This photo was revealed just after director Patty Jenkins revealed the first photo confirming Chris Pine's return as Steve Trevor in the film.

Jenkins' image was joined by another from Gal Gadot's Twitter account - this one showing Wonder Woman silhouetted against a bank of TV screens covered in 80s-style imagery. Wonder Woman, the crown jewel of the DC Extended Universe, is switching things up at least a little bit for its upcoming sequel, which, we now know, will be called Wonder Woman 1984. It stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as the villain Cheetah, and Pedro Pascal in an unknown role.

Images like these are, of course, meant to set internet chatter ablaze, and we can only speculate as to how Steve Trevor's made a return and how he's landed in the 1980s.
