A baby buried under ash after a volcanic eruption has miraculously survived.

Volunteers were also distributing humanitarian aid, including clean drinking water, to victims.

More than 3,000 residents have been evacuated from the area and people have been advised to wear face masks.

Guatemala's seismology and vulcanology institute says the new flow of searing hot volcanic material down the southeastern slopes of the Volcano of Fire is expected to produce a "curtain" of ash that the wind will carry to the west and northwest.
