Roseanne Barr tweeted this evening that she "begged" Disney-ABC Television Group President Ben Sherwood to let her apologize, "not to cancel the show", and "4 help in making things right". Barr created a firestorm this week when she posted a tweet likening former Obama White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett to an ape.

"Guys I did something unforgiveable so do not defend me", Barr wrote early Wednesday.

And while Barr has lashed out at some of her fellow co-stars who have spoken out about her tweets, she expressed sorrow that Roseanne's cancelation meant Goodman and co-star Laurie Metcalf were out of work.

"I'm sorry for my tweet", she wrote in what tweet that was later deleted. "She is a fucking asshole, but so am I. No one ever stood up to her like I did".

The "Roseanne" actress has been embroiled in controversy this week after racist comments made on social media resulted in US TV network ABC pulling her hugely popular sitcom.

After being axed, Barr announced she would be leaving Twitter.

"Roseanne" was rebooted in March after a 21-year hiatus with Barr's character recast as a Trump supporter in a rare depiction of working class life on the U.S. small screen.
