Speaking to more than 1,000 newly commissioned Navy officers and Marines at Annapolis, the president said the US has regained respect internationally through its military strength. He also patted himself on the back for giving troops pay raises "for the first time in over 10 years", even though the military receives pay raises every year.

He also used the speech to highlight his own efforts to boost USA defense spending, touting what he called a "great rebuilding of the United States military". We are going to stand up for our values.
His remarks come a day after he cancelled a planned summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un amid aggressive language from that country. "Nothing like winning", Trump said. "And when did we need it more than now?"
