Buckingham Palace Releases Queen Elizabeth's Hand-Written Royal Wedding Consent Letter

The Queen has officially given her consent for Prince Harry to marry Meghan Markle with the release of the Instrument of Consent document.

Northwestern grad Meghan Markle's royal wedding to Britain's Prince Harry might be across the pond, but it just got another touch of the Windy City. On one side is the Welsh dragon supporting the UK's floral emblems - the rose, the thistle and the shamrock.

What's more, it was revealed that the "design to the right of the text also includes the rose, as this is also the national flower of the United States". The Parliament act reads: "A person who (when the person marries) is one of the six persons next in line of succession to the crown must obtain the consent of Her Majesty before marrying".

The 92-year-old royal has given her approval to the marriage in an Instrument of Consent, which is a hand-written document that will be given to the loved-up couple after they tie the knot. "Although using Emanuel would be a fitting tribute, I believe Meghan and Harry will be choosing unexpected, less traditional choices for the royal wedding", Szabo told Express.

The Queen's signature, "Elizabeth R" can be seen at the top right of the document, which will be presented to the newlyweds after their wedding.
