Loud explosions heard in Afghan capital

Series of blasts hits Kabul casualties feared

At least seven people were killed and another 17 were wounded in multiple attacks on police districts in the Afghan capital on Wednesday, officials said.

The second attack happened in front of police precinct 10 in Shar-e-Naw in central Kabul.

As the man approached the center, in a park in the Shar-e Naw commercial district, police opened fire, setting off the explosives in his suicide vest, Hashmat Stanekzai, spokesman for Kabul police said.

The Taliban have captured several districts in different parts of the country from Afghan security forces since 2014, when the US and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation formally concluded their combat mission and shifted to a supporting role.
