Bill Cosby's wife slams prosecutor, accusers for husband's guilty verdict

Bill Cosby left arrives with his wife Camille for his sexual assault trial at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown Pa. On Thursday

Camille Cosby said her husband was innocent and said the case was"mob justice not real justice

Those attacks on District Attorney Kevin Steele and Judge Steven T. O'Neill, who presided over the case, prompted a public argument between Wyatt and Bill Cosby's then-lawyer Brian McMonagle over whether it should be read aloud at all.

Bill Cosby's wife of more than 50 years jumped to his defence on Thursday, blaming his sexual-assault conviction last week on a corrupt prosecutor, a pliant press and a lying accuser that she said led to a false verdict and stirred a lynch mob against him. "The overall media, with their frenzied, relentless demonization of him and unquestioning acceptance of accusers' allegations without any attendant proof, have superseded the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments, which guarantee due process and equal protection, and thereby eliminated the possibility of a fair trial and unbiased jury", she said. "This is mob justice, not real justice". "Bill Cosby was labelled as guilty because the media and accusers said so ... period".

Taking to Facebook, Camilla Cosby claimed her husband was put on a "trial by media", comparing his being found guilty to America's historic and well-documented practise of finding black men guilty for crimes they did not commit.

Judge Steven O'Neill criticized the media at a hearing on Tuesday for hounding jurors but conceded that a longstanding state Supreme Court ruling would nearly certainly force him to disclose the names. She argued that her husband's conviction was the result of "exploitive and corrupt" politics after Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele advocated for the comedian's conviction, and she said that Steele and his team's "primary goal is to advance themselves professionally and economically at the expense of Mr. Cosby's life".

"Twelve honorable jurors - peers of Cosby - have spoken", lawyer Dolores Troiani said. Three criminal charges, promised during an unethical campaign for the district attorney's office, were filed against my husband...all based on what I believe to be a falsified account by the newly elected district attorney's key witness.

Referring to Steele and his "cohorts", she continued, "This is a homogeneous group of exploitive (sic) and corrupt people, whose primary objective is to advance themselves professionally and economically at the expense of Mr. Cosby's life".
