Accusing the Congress of pursuing politics of dynasty and conspiracy, BJP President Amit Shah demanded on Saturday that its President, Rahul Gandhi, apologise for the "saffron terror" remarks against his party. In a rally, Shah said vowed the free Rae Bareli from dynasty politics, adding "Congress has fooled the people of Rae Bareli".

Despite a hectic schedule due to the Karnataka election campaign, the BJP president visited Rae Bareli days after Sonia Gandhi visited her constituency this week after a gap of almost two years.

Singh thanked Shah for letting him join BJP and accused the Gandhi family of running the Congress like a private company. He said that his party will develop the constituency as much as possible.

He alleged that the grand old party was trying to "defame" Hindus.

The BJP president also underlined the schemes and policies of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre for the welfare of farmers. "Asmeeanand ji has been cleared of charge", Shah said. He praised Yogi Adityanath's government for working for the farmers, taking on criminals, assuring security to the female community and providing jobs to the youth of Uttar Pradesh.

Barring three exceptions - 1977, 1996 and 1998 - Rae Bareli has stood with the Congress since 1952.
