The former New York City mayor and longtime Trump supporter says he is joining the president's legal team to help end the Russian Federation investigation. "He has been my friend for a long time and wants to get this matter quickly resolved for the good of the country, '" Sekulow said in a statement.

President-elect Donald Trump calls out to media as he and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani pose for photographs at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster clubhouse, Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, in Bedminster, N.J.

Giuliani, a former prosecutor, has been appointed along with south Florida husband-and-wife defense lawyers Martin and Jane Raskin.

Trump also loudly and repeatedly complained to several advisers earlier this week that former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, former deputy Federal Bureau of Investigation director Andrew McCabe and former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, among others, should be charged with crimes for misdeeds alleged by Republicans, the associates said.

Giuliani, a longtime friend of Trump's who logged long hours as a television surrogate during the campaign in 2016, was widely thought to be an inside-track candidate for an important Cabinet position in the administration past year, but didn't get what he wanted and so stayed on the outside.

Giuliani told CNN that he plans to ask Mueller's team for a list of what they need in order for Trump to comply, and that the compliance could take as little as "a couple of weeks".

Giuliani said the appointment was "an honor".

"I for one will sleep much easier knowing that Mayor Giuliani and these other people have joined the team to give the president's team extra power", said Jason Miller, a senior adviser to Trump's 2016 campaign who also served as deputy communications director when Giuliani ran for president in 2008.

Giuliani has been an avid supporter of Trump whom he has known for decades.

Giuliani will work with lawyers Ty Cobb and Jay Sekulow.

"I'm going to join the legal team to try to bring this to a resolution", Giuliani told The Post.

"Rudy Giuliani knows Bob Mueller, is respected by Bob Mueller, and knows this system of investigation better than everyone else the president has involved to this point", the anchor said. They also bring Justice Department experience to Trump's team. "So when President Trump says that it's a witch hunt, I think it's his way of messing with these freaks and letting them know that, yeah, it actually is a witch hunt because the target is a witch and her name is Hillary Clinton". He also intensified his public criticism of the Mueller investigation, calling it "an attack on our country".
