GOP readies response to Comey memoir

James Comey says President Donald Trump 'untethered to truth' in new book

Trump fires back at Comey on Twitter, calls him 'untruthful slime ball'

"Comey is a liar and a leaker and his misconduct led both Republicans and Democrats to call for his firing", Republican chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement to CNN.

Kelly added that he "intended to quit", Comey writes, and "said he didn't want to work for dishonorable people".

Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and prominent Trump ally, told Fox News that Comey is "hawking a book" to make money, not to get "to the heart of the truth".

"Comey isn't credible - just ask Democrats".

An old quotation from Clinton is prominently displayed on the "Lyin'Comey" website, with Trump's former Democratic rival saying that Comey "badly overstepped his bounds".

Other Democrats whose past quotes are included on the website include Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., ("I do not have confidence in [Comey] any longer"), Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., ("The FBI director has no credibility.") and Sen.

Hither Green burglar death flowers 'an insult'
The War of the Flowers is continuing in Hither Green as people keep removing floral tributes to the dead burglar. Yesterday detectives released an image of the second suspect they want to trace in connection with the incident.

Mr Comey has faced criticisms from the Democratic party too, after he announced the Federal Bureau of Investigation would be further investigating Hillary Clinton, the party's presidential nominee, shortly before the 2016 election.

Richman told Fox News on Thursday he had no comment on the RNC's new website. The talking points call Comey's credibility into question by focusing on what the RNC calls his "long history of misstatements and misconduct".

Another section of the site claims that Comey "wants to portray himself as a non-partisan, by-the-book Boy Scout rather than a politically motivated Washington insider". Republicans will argue that Comey "repeatedly usurped" the authority of then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and violated protocol by "publicly acknowledging the existence of ongoing FBI investigations".

Stephanopoulos also brought up Comey's critics who wanted him to put Hillary Clinton before a grand jury, as well as asking him whether Trump "was obstructing justice" and if the president should be impeached. Digital ads will also be rolled out.

The Democratic National Committee did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment on the RNC's strategy.

The Comey memoir, "A Higher Loyalty", is set to be released next Tuesday.

Backpage.com officials indicted following Federal Bureau of Investigation shutdown
The indictment alleges, "These strategies are a fiction created to hide the true nature of Backpage's ads and customers". The federal government seized the online classifieds site Backpage on Friday, but the case remained sealed at the time .

A preview of his book on iTunes.com states: "His journey provides an unprecedented entry into the corridors of power, and a remarkable lesson in what makes an effective leader".

Comey learned of his firing from a television news report while he was addressing agents in California.

Comey's first stop in promoting his book will be on ABC News with George Stephanopoulos.

An interview with Mr Comey, in which he is thought to speak candidly about Mr Trump's behaviour and the Russian Federation investigation, will air on Sunday night in the US. You can hear the interview at 10 p.m. Sunday on WBAL NewsRadio 1090.
