Everton boss Allardyce: I loved Schneiderlin derby performance

Sam Allardyce hits back at Wayne Rooney after furious reaction to being subbed against Liverpool

Allardyce: We created enough to beat Liverpool

In a largely uneventful match between the two local rivals, the Everton midfielder was replaced by manager Sam Allardyce to help the Toffees end a 16-game winless run against the Reds, much to Rooney's disgust.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce insists that Wayne Rooney still has a future at Goodison Park, despite the player's reaction to being subbed against Liverpool on Saturday.

The Merseyside derby ended in a drab 0-0 draw although it will be remembered for the antics of Rooney who threw an almighty strop after being taken off within an hour.

Before then, the 25-year-old who has earned the nickname "Cheese Straw" in Holland owing to his stature and hair, hasn't played since September last year.

They beat us in all the ways, they took us where they wanted because they needed a big result, and unfortunately they got it". They are only the third team ever to win a Champions League knockout tie having lost the first leg by such a large margin.

Everton face a trip to relegation-threatened Swansea City next weekend and Allardyce said he will review the data from the Merseyside derby before deciding whether Rooney retains his starting role.

However, the ex-England manager stated his belief that Rooney struggles against the top teams which will only serve to make the latter even angrier.

'He did not play very properly within the first half towards Manchester Metropolis however earlier than that he had been excellent, ' mentioned Allardyce.

Allardyce: "We're still playing Tom Davies at 19 and bringing Beni Baningime on at 19 years old, and we are without Gylfi Sigurdsson who can play there".

The patient underwent a CT angiogram, which revealed a significant constriction and narrowing of blood vessels in his brain. A scan showed several arteries in his brain had temporarily narrowed, causing severe episodic "thunderclap" headaches .

"Davy Klaassen is still an anomaly to me, as to will he or won't he?" Will he or won't he? But I make the decisions and the decisions made us more of an attacking force and gave us more opportunity to win the game.

"We have to get that stability back, which we're slowly but surely doing, and then we have to look at what the summer will bring and what next season will bring".

Allardyce said at the time that he would be disappointed if Rooney wasn't unhappy at being dragged off, but that his frustrations should stay behind closed doors. We'll sit down in the next week and we'll talk it through and we'll see how he feels.
