Amazon is reportedly working to cure the weird fits of laughter that overcome its personal assistant Alexa and creep out users.

The video is unsettling, and it isn't unique; other Echo owners have reported that their devices have been laughing too, either in response to a question, or entirely unprompted.

In a statement provided to the Verge, a representative for Amazon said the company is "aware" of the problem and is "working to fix it".

Users on Reddit also said they experienced random laughs and Alexa ignoring their commands, reported BuzzFeed. When asked, "Alexa, how do you laugh?" my Echo replied, "Sure, I can laugh-tee hee!"

In the meantime, users continue to swap laughing Alexa stories as though telling ghost stories at a campfire. But it's unlikely that Alexa has become sentient and is intentionally frightening users with the laughs.

You can even access Deezer's Flow feature through Alexa which will play music continuously until you ask Alexa to stop, which is ideal if you're in the mood for music all day and night. "It sounded like a real person". And when Amazon's Alexa, a voice-activated technological assistant, was released into the mass market, it inspired similar concerns of eavesdropping and audio data collection.

Student to face consequences for making threat to school
