John Shuster Leads US's 'Team of Rejects' to Olympic Curling Gold

USA topple Sweden to cap fairytale run with first ever Olympic curling gold

Winter Olympics 2018: US men defeat Sweden for first curling gold

The team, which won the first US gold curling medal, features northeastern Minnesotans and northwestern Wisconsinites. He stopped being that guy a week ago, when his US men's curling team fell to 2-4 in round-robin play, on the verge of elimination, and Shuster escorted his family to the far exit of the Gangneung Curling Center to put them on a bus, and his wife Sarah gave him the biggest pep talk he could, and he appreciated it but barely acknowledged it. "Probably the best thing was seeing Shuster's team all play their best".

Sweden, whose skip Niklas Edin made a couple of crucial errors, reduced the gap to three points going into the last end but the Swedes finally conceded with one stone left.

Throughout the game, the crowd could be heard repeatedly chanted "USA!" as the team - which included Tyler George, Matt Hamilton and John Landsteiner - fought to take out the dominating Swedish team.

By the fourth end an overthrown stone from Sweden's Niklus Edin meant the first and only call for a measurement to see which stone was closest to the center of the "house" -- the area that looks like a bullseye. The team's captain, John Shuster, still works at a Dick's Sporting Goods, so you can't blame the team for trying to capitalize on their gold medals to experience first class. The victory is the second curling medal ever for the United States. America took it to Canada resulting in a 5-3 victory to send the team to the finals, a feat that has never been accomplished by an American curling team.

Israeli forces open fire on Palestinian fishermen off Gaza coast, kill one
According to the Times of Israel, a half of some 4,000 Gazans who earn their living by fishing live below the poverty line. The Gaza Strip's border with Egypt has also been largely closed in recent years.

Shuster then pulled off his master throw to secure the United States a stunning five-pointer to go 10-5 up and earn the USA a famous success.

Cross-country skiers Kikkan Randall and Jessica Diggins won gold in the sprint freestyle, winning a medal in the event for Team USA for the first time since 1976 (and its first gold, to boot).

He responded by losing 35 pounds and starting up his own team, which soon earned the nickname "The Rejects".

We were starstruck when National Football League player J.J. Watt and Hamilton became best friends.

'The Walking Dead' Star Chandler Riggs Spills on Carl's Heartbreaking Final Episode
Carl has made it clear over the past eight episodes that he's really against his father continuing the war with Negan. This week's midseason premiere, " Honor ", featured Carl embracing his final hours with beatific acceptance.

Aside from the curlers, Minnesota athletes also took home medals in women's hockey (eight with Minnesota ties were on the team that won gold), cross country skiing (Afton's Jessie Diggins won gold) and downhill skiing (Burnsville native Lindsey Vonn won bronze).

Team coach Phill Drobnick even seconded the request, tweeting, "Come on @Delta I think #DeltaOne is calling our name for the gold!"

Yeah, he was part of that bronze medal-winning squad in Turin, but he'd been dealt much more heartache by the Winter Games.

And, as some pointed out, if a gold medal doesn't deserve an upgrade, what does?

Liverpool fullback Alexander-Arnold: You've got it wrong - Firmino is underrated
Judging by their recent goal-scoring exploits, second spot in the Premier League is a distinct possibility for Liverpool . On the win over West Ham, the Senegal attacker said: "I think the whole team played well".

As the wins piled up, these guys began to draw more and more attention back home. I have learned so many valuable lessons from playing and watching sports. Don't miss Ivanka Trump mingling with curling enthusiasts or John Shuster's weepy interview.
