Jaguars finalizing 3-year contract extension with Blake Bortles

Blake Bortles, Jaguars Reportedly Agree to 3-Year, $54M Contract Extension

But for now, Blake Bortles appears to be their man.

But even though the numbers look big, they're relatively cheap for a quarterback in the National Football League today.

Jaguars are giving QB Blake Bortles a new three-year, $54 million deal, worth up to $66.5M with incentives, that includes $26.5M guaranteed, tying him to Jacksonville through the 2020 season, per source.

Blake Bortles was the team's first round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, and prior to the 2017 season, the Jaguars exercised their fifth-year team option on Bortles' contract, which would have been essentially a guaranteed one year salary of over $19 million.

That deal could have a significant impact on the quarterback market.

Isolated strong storms possible Sunday
Friday and next weekend is looking spectacular and seasonable with sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 60s. A line of heavy rain with embedded isolated strong storms will move into northwest Georgia around 5 a.m.

"It is a dream come true", Bortles said Saturday. If the Jaguars are trying to keep the majority of their AFC Championship Game band together, they're in a very good spot to do so. Bortles will be in Jacksonville, and Cousins will be somewhere else.

For other quarterbacks, however, Bortles may have driven the price down a bit.

Bortles actually had the kind of playoff run that typically results in a huge financial windfall.

Bortles finished the 2017 season with 3,687 yards, 21 touchdowns and 13 touchdowns.

Bortles' teammates repeatedly expressed their support for him during the postseason. He led a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown drives to help the Jaguars beat the Steelers 45-42.

Nigerian schoolgirls 'unaccounted for' after Boko Haram raid
Nigeria's government is acknowledging that 110 girls remain missing almost a week after Boko Haram militants attacked a town. On Friday, Buhari said he was sending more troops and reconnaissance aircraft to look for them.

"He's not anxious about personal credit or accolades; his sole focus is on being a great leader and a great teammate and I am very excited for him and his family on a very well earned extension". He came out here and played his heart out.

"I'm thrilled and proud of myself for being able to do that".

"I have said it all along: I think Blake is one of the toughest people I have ever met, and I'm talking about his mental and physical toughness", Marrone said. "So to continue to have an opportunity to go play is pretty awesome".

Drafting a potential successor would have limited financial repercussions, even if Bortles elevates his play and keeps that younger player on the bench.

However, he also threw 18 interceptions that season.

Russian Federation tests new Su-57 stealth fighter over war-weary Syrian skies
The fifth-generation Su-57, also known as the T-50, has been created to compete with the U.S. F-22 Raptor and F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft. "First-stage state trials are over".

It's certainly not that the offense was bad, but there are positions that must be improved heading into the season. That tells you all you need to know about where Coughlin is on Bortles.
