Two of the Pixel 2's main software selling points are expanding with the announcement of new partnerships and devices today. Google suggested that while just 13 Android smartphones work with ARCore right now, more are in the pipeline.
After playing around in the experimental phase, Google is bringing its ARCore augmented reality platform to its 1.0 release with availability on over 100 million Android devices. Google IO 2018 is just few months from now and as always we are expecting the new Android version.
"ARCore 1.0 features improved environmental understanding that enables users to place virtual assets on textured surfaces like posters, furniture, toy boxes, books, cans and more", wrote Anuj Gosalia, Google Director of Engineering for AR.

"Future Android releases" is rather vague, but with Android P coming soon, it wouldn't be surprising to see one (or both) make it into Android 9.0. Some of the companies include the likes of Samsung, Huawei, LG, Motorola, ASUS, Xiaomi, HMD/Nokia, ZTE, Sony Mobile, and Vivo.
Google Lens, which was previously exclusive to the Pixel family of smartphones, is now available to all Android and iOS devices running the Google Photos app. Google also says that compatible Android flagship smartphones will gain Lens support via the Google Assistant "in the coming weeks".
