The bomb blast, which took place during the Friday prayers, is suspected to have been triggered by Improvised Explosive Device, IED, at the Saad Ben Obadah in Libya.

Libyan officials say twin bomb explosions at a mosque in the city of Benghazi have killed at least two people and wounded 75 others.

Mutaz al-Mu'tri, Benghazi's security directorate spokesperson, said two bomb bags had been used in the attack, according to Libya's 218 tv news channel.

In January, a twin bombing at a mosque in Benghazi's Salmani neighbourhood killed at least 35.

Haftar, who opposes a UN-backed unity government based in Tripoli, announced Benghazi's "liberation" from jihadists in July last year after a three-year campaign, but sporadic violence has continued.

In the past few months there have been occasional, smaller scale bombings apparently targeting LNA allies or supporters.

The UN has been trying to mediate for years, hoping elections could help stabilise Libya. The country has been since split between rival governments and militias.

It has since imposed strict military control on the city and other parts of eastern Libya under its control.
