At a live event in New York, DJI launched the newest member of its consumer drone family, the Mavic Air. It's a lot like the DJI Spark, announced a year ago, but its rotor arms fold in making the little bitty aircraft even more little bitty.
At $1299 or $1599 with spare parts, extra batteries and accessories, it is no cheap toy. This means you're guaranteed to have much sharper videos. You can still make a picture frame gesture to snap a selfie, and now you can angle your palm downward to tell the Air to land.
Slow motion footage can be easily captured on the Mavic Air using 1080p at 120 fps.
You can also shoot in high dynamic range mode.
You can create horizontal, vertical, and 180 degree panorama images.
'Serial killer nurse' charged with 97 more murders by German prosecutors
Harold Shipman was believed to have killed as many as 250 people, majority elderly and middle-aged women who were his patients. The announcement came after investigators completed examinations of patients who died, while Hoegel served as a nurse.
Integrated storage plus microSD: The Mavic Air features 8GB of onboard storage, plus whatever microSD card you throw in there, which should skip past issues of having full storage cards you haven't transferred your precious shots from.
There are 6 different QuickShots modes: Rocket, Dronie, Circle, Helix, Asteroid, and Boomerang.
The two new modes are asteroid and boomerang. Users can directly save photos and videos in the drone.
DJI announced their brand new product on Tuesday to be released on January 28th: the Mavic Air drone. DJI also says that the Mavic Air's 41% lighter than the Mavic Pro yet is able to resist winds of up to 22 miles per hour (about 35.4km/h). The main camera is suspended by a 3-axis mechanical gimbal with dampers to reduce shake and vibrations.
Pakistan police arrests Zainab Ansari's murderer
The incident blew the lid on the horrifying reality of how children in a brutalized society are vulnerable to sexual abuse. He questioned Punjab government competency for apprehending other suspects involved in similar cases.
DJI has unveiled the Mavic Air drone, a successor to its top-selling Mavic Pro that is smaller, lighter and faster as well as promising more advanced obstacle-avoidance tech.
Another first for Mavic Air is its 8 GB of onboard storage. The updated FlightAutonomy system uses upgraded processing technology to construct a 3D model using its seven cameras and infrared sensors. Instead of simply stopping in place when they detect an obstacle blocking the drone's path, the Mavic Air examines the environment and automatically adjusts flight to avoid it, either by flying to the side or rising above it. Otherwise, when comparing the DJI Mavic Air vs DJI Spark, the Mavic Air comes out on top due to the ease of transport from the foldable arms.
Further, the Mavic Air packs a 2,375mAh battery which is able to sustain steady flight for 21 minutes. DJI says it can fly stably in windy conditions of up to 22 miles per hour, and at high elevations of up to 16,404 feet above sea level.
The remote has detachable control sticks that can be stored inside the remote controller for added portability.
And just in case you were anxious, the Mavic Air just seems like a fun machine to fly - it'll hit speeds as high as 42.5 miles per hour in sports mode, and can withstand winds of up to 22 miles per hour.
