Indian army chief calls for 'ramping up the heat' on Pakistan

In a strong retaliation attack, Indian Army killed today seven Pakistani soldiers and wounded four in areas along the Line of Control (LoC) for the killing of an Indian soldier in Pakistan firing on Saturday.

"In the retaliatory assaults by the Indian Army, seven Pakistani soldiers, including an officer, were killed", an officer said. A statement issued by Pakistani Major General Asif Ghafoor said, " Pakistani soldiers attained shahadat along the LoC in Jandrot, Kotli sector. The Indian jawans injured at least four soldiers of the neighbouring country.

After the mortar round exploded, Pakistani forces responded and killed three Indian soldiers while wounding several others, it said.

However, there was no official confirmation from the Indian Army authorities till late evening about the exact number of fatal injuries inflicted on the Pakistani side of the border in the "punitive" strike.
