Jon Gruden confirms interest in Raiders job: 'I hope I'm a candidate'

Jon Gruden to the Raiders is done

Last week as word leaked out that Gruden would be the next coach, including a confirmation from ESPN colleague Adam Schefter, many wondered how the Raiders planned to satisfy the NFL's "Rooney Rule" which requires teams to interview at least one minority candidate before making a head coaching hire. "I believe we have developed a solid nucleus", he said, adding that whoever replaces him will have a chance to go to "special places".

In a phone conversation with Jerry McDonald of the Bay Area News Group, Gruden admitted that he is being considered as a candidate for the Raiders job. Look for Gruden to be named the Raiders head coach either Monday or Tuesday of next week.

"Since 2006-07 and the teams that we had, what Jack has done to bring this organization back to life so to speak and give his three years, he built a good team and had some good games", Condo said.

South Korea offers to talk with North on Olympics cooperation
Tension has been rising over North Korea's nuclear and missile programmes, which it pursues in defiance of years of U.N. This also corresponds with Moon's ambition for South Korea to take the driver's seat on the Korean Peninsula.

On Saturday night, ESPN reported that Davis was prepared to pursue Gruden with a strong offer that could include an ownership stake in the team.

"Came to work with a smile every day, and definitely enjoyed playing for him, but it just sucks because he's the coach".

Another consideration for Gruden is that he is scheduled to continue with his broadcasting gig with ESPN through the playoffs, and he wants to honor that commitment.

Georgia RB Sony Michel not satisfied with Rose Bowl win
The game was the highest-scoring Rose Bowl, one point more than USC's 52-49 victory over Penn State in the 2017 Rose Bowl. Earlier this week, OU quarterback Baker Mayfield had to sit out from several team events in California due to an illness.

Still, Gruden has reportedly already started lining up a coaching staff. Morton was also an offensive assistant for the Raiders from 2002-04. Gannon is now a TV analyst for CBS and was in the booth for the Raiders' finale against the Chargers on Sunday. Despite winning back-to-back division titles, the Raiders traded Gruden to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who dominated Oakland the following year in Super Bowl XXXVII. When they win, sometimes you get the feeling that they can beat anybody.

Pro Football Weekly will have more on this developing story soon.

Mega Millions jackpot up to $363 million
No one has hit the Mega Millions jackpot since October 13, 2017, while Powerball has not had a jackpot victor since October 25. With slightly better odds than the Powerball game, it's rare that months pass without someone winning a Mega Millions jackpot.
