Passengers heading to New Delhi and other northern regions of the Country from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad had to wait for long hours on Monday as many flights were delayed due to heavy fog in New Delhi. Most of the northwestern plains are in its grip. On Sunday, 54 domestic and 11 global flights were delayed due to bad weather.

Dense fog at the national capital caused fall of the visibility level below 50 meters - less than the minimum needed for flight operations - resulting in the delay in departure or diversion of domestic and worldwide flights coming for Delhi.

Delhi airport has advanced technology for low-visibility landings, called CAT IIIB.
