Reyes said the event is important for families who consistently honor veteran family members.

Every grave at Arlington National Cemetery will be covered.

The public is invited to attend and asked to arrive at 11:30 a.m. The organization's mission - Remember, Honor, Teach - is carried out in part each year by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies in December at Arlington, as well as at more than 1,000 veterans' cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond.

Community members turned out to Woodlawn National Cemetery Saturday to lay about 1,800 wreaths at the foot of veteran headstones for the nationwide event Wreaths Across America.

Although all wreaths have been donated for the ceremony, contributions of time and funds for next year's event are appreciated.

Besides the Valley Center ceremony, similar events are planned in San Diego County, including ceremonies at Fort Rosecrans and Miramar National Cemeteries and Greenwood Memorial Park on December 16, also at 9 a.m. The ceremony will take place at Memorial Cemetery.

The wreaths will remain in place until January 20, when volunteers will again be needed to help remove them. "It lets us have the ceremony and have volunteers help to place many wreaths in one location".

In Waynesboro, Fishburne Military School honored veterans on Tuesday during their Wreaths Across America ceremony.
