Samsung updates its Notebook 9 ultrabooks with even bigger batteries

All four Samsung Notebook 9 PCs will be reaching the South Korean market this month itself, followed by its arrival in the U.S. in Q1 2018. The battery also supports fast charging and the Notebook 9 (2018) measures 15.4mm, which makes it one of the thinnest and lightest notebooks in its segment.

Interestingly, the bezel on the laptop is just 5.2 millimetres thick, and it's also made of the same Metal12 alloy. The connectivity ports available on the device include USB-C, USB 3.0, HDMI, Dollars card slot, headphone/microphone jack and DC-in. All in all, the specs are great... save for the Full HD display resolution of the entire upgraded Notebook 9 family.

There's the new Notebook 9 Pen which is a 13.3-inch 2-in-1 notebook. In addition to fingerprint sensor, the Notebook 9 Pen also gets an IR camera for Windows Hello facial recognition. As of now, it will be interesting to see how the Samsung Notebook 9 fairs in the market and whether it is able to beat the Surface and the likes of them.

The larger model will even be offered with optional discreet NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics, as well as all the ports you could ever need, including Thunderbolt 3 technology, a pair of USB 3.0s, a USB 2.0, HDMI, and a microSD slot. This model also comes with its very own S Pen stylus, which can be tucked away on the front edge of the keyboard.

The devices are said to be relying upon Intel's eight-generation Core i7 processors along with integrated graphics. As for ports, the Samsung Notebook 9 Pen comes with one USB Type-C port, one USB 3.0 port, one HDMI ports and a Dollars card slot. The non S-Pen supporting models are backed by 75Whr batteries, while the Notebook 9 Pen model is supported by 39Whr battery. It's also slated for release in the USA during the first quarter of 2018.

Samsung is making some changes in its "Notebook" PC line up, refreshing the models for next year and introducing some new ones as well. The company has not yet revealed the prices of the new PCs.
